Which? Webtrader Scheme
The Which? Webtrader scheme ended in January 2003. We are disappointed as Cookability was one of the 2700 that gained accreditation out of the 8000 that applied. Rest assured, we will continue to uphold the principles that the scheme stood for.
Webtrader was a trust scheme for businesses selling to consumers over the Internet. The objective of the scheme was to facilitate access of businesses in e-commerce, by improving consumer confidence in buying online.
The scheme was based on the online certification of business and the grant of a "Webtrader" label, upon compliance with a code of conduct, which aims to guarantee that transactions will be completed in a fair way.
The main issues addressed in the code of conduct were: consumer information, ordering process, security, privacy, protection of children and dispute settlement.
Webtrader was launched in the beginning of 2000 by consumer associations in 7 EU Member States (B, F, I, NL, UK, SP, P).
Which? was the consumer association associated with the Webtrader scheme in the UK.
